Session Notes

Why I started this journal

← Back to the journal

I play pickleball most mornings — four times a week, mostly in Austin, with regular trips to Ft Marcy Park in Santa Fe and SPF in Chicago. No drills, no cross-training, just matches. That's been enough to get to 3.25 and keep improving, slowly, one session at a time.

I've never been the guy chasing pace. I'd rather win the point with placement — make the other side move, be patient, let the error come to them. That style doesn't always look flashy, but it's mine, and it's what this journal is going to track.

The plan is simple: after sessions, once the shower and lunch and nap are done, jot down what actually happened on the court. What worked, what didn't, who I played with, what the loss taught me — or, more accurately, what my partner's unforced error taught me.

What to expect

Short entries, mostly. A running log more than a polished blog. If you're on a similar climb up the rating ladder, playing patient over powerful, some of this will probably sound familiar.
